The support group is available to patients who have completed any one of the programs offered at The Pain Centre. This patient-centred group is facilitated by a psychologist and offers continuing emotional support and education for patients.

The goals of the support group are:

  • To strengthen and reinforce the pain management skills that the patient has learned at The Pain Centre
  • To facilitate further learning and support through sharing with others who have chronic pain
  • To increase knowledge from other professionals in related fields (invited speakers) about coping with pain

The support group meets once a month for two hours at The Pain Centre, St. Paul’s Hospital. The format of the group usually follows thirty minutes of networking and support, a one hour presentation by an invited speaker and concludes with approximately thirty minutes of relaxation.
