Research is an important aspect of The Pain Centre. Information gained
from the various research projects, along with research from other centres,
is used to continuously reshape and refine the programs offered at The Pain Centre. Our programs are based on an evidence based model.
Team members have published in respected journals across North America.
As well, a number of interdisciplinary studies are in progress within
The Pain Centre. These include:
- Evaluation of the Stages of Change as a predictor of outcome in the
Chronic Pain Day Program
- Evaluation of cognitive coping styles as a predictor of outcome in
the Chronic Pain Day Program
- A prospective follow-up study of individuals receiving either a spinal
cord stimulator or an intrathecal pump for the management of their pain
- A comparison of an enhanced interdisciplinary approach vs. standard
care for individuals receiving a spinal cord stimulator
- A prospective study evaluating an individualized Return-To-Work Program
for patients with chronic pain
